The lawyer needs to have a background knowledge of the laws in the UAE. Often, it has been observed that the civil law system of the UAE is influenced by the French, Roman, Islamic and Egyptian law. The system is totally opposite of the United States where the prior legal terms are viewed to make lower courts. In the UAE, the common law principles are not paid much heed.

A lawyer must understand that the legal system of the UAE is based on two court systems; civil courts and Sharia courts. That court covers diverse cases of law. Every state if the UAE has a federal court.  The law firms in Dubai are mostly focused on the commercial and finance disputes.

The lawyers can work independently if they want to or they can join legal firms to practice law.Top of Form

The lawyers are taken seriously in Dubai. They are known as legal consultants too. Therefore, the Federal Raw on the Regulation of the Profession tells that the lawyers cannot practice unless he has not registered himself in the Ministry of Justice’s role of active lawyers if they are practicing in federal courts.

If he wants to practice in another Emirate, then he must have a license given by the Emiri Diwan. Also, he needs to be a United Arab Emirate national who is 20 years old or older than that. His previous records shall be checked and there shall be no bad reputation before, neither there is any criminal record against the lawyer.
